I used to prewash, but now do not, just one more step I get to skip to get right to the fun part of cutting and putting the quilt together. I too like the feel and look of brand new fabric and when I wash it ,it has more of the hand crafted quilt look, like someone is using it. I like that too. I've not had a problem with bleeding and shrinking doesn't bother me.
