Bailey, PP is actually quite easy and very satisfying. If you choose a paper foundation, you tear it off when you have sewn one block onto the next. Carol Doak has some wonderful books/instructions. I'd try a simple sample piece first. (If you use muslin/fabric foundation, it remains part of the block/quilt, and yes, gives you 2 layers. I sometimes use a fabric foundation when making tablecloths/tablerunners, and leave out the batting.) Will be curious what you decide to do. ~karen
