Bottles with caps was my answer to this delemma, also. Never know when the elbow will hit the unexpected! Also, I would take the material from the trash and soak in cold water, agitate with a little soap/shampoo/stain remover/whatever, lay to dry and iron. If it hasn't been so long for it to dry out and set the stain, should work. Even then the stain remover should cover it.
