I have 2 older Sears Kenmore machines when first started to create sewing projects: A super high shank machine 158-17032, then I purchased 2nd hand yet never used 148-15600, a nice quality low shank machine.
Then, in late Oct for my birthday I purchased my newest Brother 950D embroidery sewing machine. It also uses low shank and ankle style presser feet, even my older walking foot fits. The Brother machine has tons of quality features I never knew existed. Its a super wonderful machine with all its bells and whistles and a large set of built in stitching and sewing styles and even has 6 full built in sets of alphabets to personalize anything, as long as you can get it under the presser foot and not break your needle. I would highly recommend any of the Brother Inno-vis style machines.
