I have made chenille hot pads using layers of flannel. They are really pretty and a friend paid me to make her about 10 for her to use as Christmas gifts. There is a pattern for them. They are different from regular pot holders. Also popular in So CA are small purses that hang around your neck for walkers and runners. They can hold a cell phone, charge card or drivers license and a key, etc. There are patterns for those too.
Also, items made with batiks really stand out from other handmade crafts. Good luck.
Oh, my granddaughter needed to earn some money before Christmas. We made and sold quart jars with layered cookie mixes in them. We added pinked fabric circles tied with a ribbon around the lid and attached an instruction tag. You can also do soup mixes. We sold them for $10.00 each and sold all that we made.
