I used to do my own on a regular machine. I couldn't bear to part with the longarm fee. I finally researched for two years and watched for a used longarm. I got a used Hinterberg Voyager 17 on a Stretch frame. It is the BEST thing I ever did. Very cost effective. Hinterberg recently merged with Nolting now but I highly recommend to buy from Dekk't Out Quilting in Ohio. Customer service from Steve Dekker is awesome and I didn't even get my machine from him but I would if I upgrade.
