The Bernina 930 is a wonderful machine. It'll sew things better than your Brother machine. There are two 930's at my house; both me and my daughter own one. She makes all sorts of costumes and other clothing for herself and dh and is pleased with how well it sews. You can still get feet and bobbins for the 930. You may be able to locate a power cord from a Bernina dealer or on Ebay.
I would recommend joining the Yahoo group "Bernina Thirty somethings". I have learned a great deal from the people there and have found needed parts and feet.
Definately get it serviced, but make sure that its by a Bernina dealer, Berninas sometimes require special tools that only Bernina dealers have. Also make sure that your technican knows the older machines.
