I recently learned how to use light color T-Shirt transfer sheets to get the photo on plain white fabric. Pre-wash and press smooth-finish fabric (white bed sheets will work). Do not use fabric softener or spray starch. These will pick up some of the ink and wash out. Scan your photo and check the size. Always mirror image and check color resolution before printing on T-Shirt transfer sheets. Cut off excess from around photo to prevent shadows. Center the photo on the white fabric which has been cut 2 inches larger than desired finished size. Using dry iron, iron at least a minute longer than the instructions say. Flip the fabric over with the picture and transfer paper on it and press another minute. Flip it back to the first side and iron yet another minute. Cool the fabric by waving in the air a few seconds and peel off transfer paper. To test colorfastness, press another minute with a sheet of plain paper against the picture. If any of the image transfers to the paper, it will run when washed; so discard the image and try again with longer pressing times.
