Thank you, I do appreciate the comments. I saw it on the board and bought a piece of on sale fabric. I will try again. I will also-donate this one.

My first OBW was the same - I chose too small a print and not enough colour variation and was disppaointed with it as it wasn't like the striking ones in the books and on here. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20904-1.htm Here it is, barely different to the original fabric but now doing a turn as a throw on the old couch in my son's bedroom!

Since then I've gone on to make more (lots more!) and am getting much better at visualising how a fabric will disect. Just takes practice! :-D :-D :-D
