If you do decide to add the silk hexagons in, here is a way to do so.
I have appliqued the flower to another framed QAYG hexagon. The one with the white floral frame and the purple flower in the middle has 3 dark pink silk hexagons and 3 satin hexagons around a open
weave metallic hexagon. Because the QAYG hexagon has felt for
batting, it will hold up<nowadays, the felt does not bleed, so I have not had problems with this.>
You can try different wide stitches on your sewing machine to see what you like best.
