The blogs I've followed over the years have a few things in common, regardless of blog topic:

1. Fun to read - the blogger is literate and amusing, has a good sense of humor

2. There are occasional useful links, but the entire blog is not just a collection of links.

3. I like tutorials and free patterns, but I don't follow a blog just because they provide tutorials. I usually stumble onto blogs that I like through a google search on a particular subject, say "freemotion quilting tutorial", but if quality #1 is absent, it will be a one time visit.

Pet pictures and pet stories are of very little interest to me. They're something I just skip over to get to the good stuff.
