There is one tutorial in parts that takes you step by step how to take your machine apart, checking and cleaning and then putting it back together again. Another place to check might be on Yahoo Groups in the service repair subject along with groups for Bernina owners.
You may be able to take the end cap of your machine off and then be able to see where the lever is attached then replace the screw. Be careful to align the screw so as to not strip the hole. This is done by starting the screw with your fingers if possible.
