Here is another rose variation for the Baltimore Album BOM

On the front of the fabric, place the batting and then the smaller rose template fabric, cut leaving 1/8" seam allowance. Pin in place.

Cut a square of fabric, a couple of inches larger than the rose template. Take on the back the 2 templates. Trace on a piece of batting the smaller template, and cut the batting out.

Front after basted.

On the back, using a contrasting color thread, needle baste directly on the line drawn the motif fabric. You do not have to secure this basting as it will be removed as you needle turn the seam allowance under. It is there to hold the batting and motif in place and give you a guide line for needle turning.

Begin traditional needleturning, removing the basting stitches as you need to. Clip curves and inner points as needed.

Continue around the smaller center of the rose until total secured.

Cut out the small circle, applique it to the center, going through to the back to create a puffyness. When that is done, trim the seam allowance on the largest template to 1/8" and secure the rose to the background. The back petal of the rose will be flat, the second layer and center will be stuffed and puffy.
