The best thing I think about entering a quilt into a judged show is the constructive criticism the judge gives. Helps to move you to the next level, you know better what to work on to improve your skills. Judges look for accuracy in block making and even and appropriate quilting. Full bindings and nicely hand stitched to backing. Other things also come into play but most important in entering a quilt show is the joy you and others will get in seeing your quilt. The judge's comments will help you improve but the viewers will only see the overall beauty. Jump in and enter, it is an eye opening and rewarding experience. The first one is always a little scary and you might feel the judge a little "unfair" in some respects but use their information to move forward.
