You cannot judge the density by how many threads there are per square inch. I have had 400 threads per square inch sheets that were thin rags. They would have been fine to hand quilt with. They sometimes use very fine threads. Think of it this way, 40/2 ply versus a 60/2 ply sewing thread. Also the number of threads (ply) in the thread changes the density.
