What wonderful thing you are doing for these children. I have a suggestion for those that want to learn to hand quilt. Start them off with a darning needle and crochet thread. They can learn to control the needle as well as the length of their stitches. I did a quilt for my Dad about 10 years ago with the scraps from the shirts Mom made for him. I did a cross hatch stitch and used crochet thread and it was outstanding. Hope you can continue with this project.
