I had that same question when I first started in this industry. It's mechanically impossible to have too large a bobbin or a continuous bobbin. Every time your machine makes a stitch, the top thread wraps completely around the floating bobbin case. Some of the Long arm quilting machines and commercial embroidery machines are using a jumbo bobbin that is about 2 times the size of the standard L type bobbin that you have. The problem is that the tension is not consistent from beginning to end on Jumbo bobbins and with a jumbo hook and a jumbo bobbin, it is more difficult to sew on small tubular items like socks.
