Again, I am a 1952 model but visited with my GM so much. She had an old treadle machine and when I was about 7 or 8 and decided I wanted to learn to sew. Guess what--she sat me down at that machine and it was love at first site.
My GM didn't drive and depended on a neighbor to take her to "town" once a week. The local feedstore had chicken feed in the fabric bags. Here we would go--to get feed and pick out a pretty fabric for me to sew.
I have not thought of that in a while. Thanks for sparking the memory.
