I was born in the '40's but I did wear feed sack dresses. My favorite was a light lavendar flowered fabric, and it had some orange centers in the flowers; gee that was a long time ago - but I loved that dress... and mom gave it to my teacher so she could put crepe paper ruffles all over it for a play I was in in country school - the teacher asked afterwards if she could keep the dress, and my mother said yes! I was so hurt, I could hardly breathe after that give-away of my favorite dress; and my heart ached because of it - and mom never knew I loved that dress that much! To this day, my favorite colors range in the lavenders and many times my mind goes back to my dress gone astray! I wonder what ever happened to it.
