I love this quilt! Theoreticaly speaking: I believe it's put together with 4 1/2 inch light strips that are 2 1/2 inch wide and take a 2 7/8 inch medium colored square on one end and make a diagional line sewing down from the top right corner on the right side of the line then cut off the access. You sew two of these units together to make a rectangle. The star is made of 4 of these rectangles. Play with the arrangement so the half squares are on the outside, this will make the secondary jewel design. ;-) Give it a shot with scraps. You might also have to make mirror image units to place in the rectangel.
