Are you sure that the blocks don't come out 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 and end up as a 12 x 12 finished block. Check that out before you add the 1/2 inch.

Just as an FYI there are some 12x12 blocks in this listing, should be hard to add a 1/2 inch there.
