You need to insist that everyone in the family, including pets, be tested to see if anyone is a carrier.
If not, then you have a problem in finding out who else the child is in contact with who might be a carrier and kindly request that they be tested also. If it were my child, I would offer to pay for the testing if insurance is a problem.
Strep can lead to serious results if not halted.
