I have done several t-shirt quilts and threatened the recipient not to take it to the beach for a blanket. There is a lot of work in them and regardless, each quilt is unique....I have found that I can fix some mistakes by using smaller t shirt prints such as on the sleeve, by using an iron on backing and either slip stitch by hand or use machine stitch if you have not put your backing on yet.
