I actually find the front hook the most comfortable since having to deal with arthritis in the hands and shoulders. Having been a nurse for 37 years and now retired, both male and female usually have some adjustments to make to their dressing routine with pain in the joints and I am no exception. Trying to make these sewing adjustments due to pain and numbness in the hands is the biggest adjustment.. trying to keep safe..now is when I need one of those machines that threads itself..both needle and bobbin.
