I started hand applique with freezer paper on the back and basted the seamallowence over to the back. It gave me a good 'target' for my needle on the edge of the piece. Kind of like paper piecing...I never get that technique right my stitches show! good luck. I am making a Baltamore album and designing most of my own blocks!!!!!
