It depends alot on the lighting in the room... plasma has come a long way recently so it really does depend on the lighting in the room that you are putting it into. I have an 20" LCD, 40" LCD and a 44" Plasma all are name brands. Size all depends on the size of the room as well. I love our big plasma & the LCD they are both great. But people are right, don't go under 1080p
