I was six years old and I had to stand up to make it work. It required more coordination that most six year olds can muster but I was already embroidering and crocheting by that age. I made a lot of "Dawn" (six inch version of barbie) outfits on that wonderful machine. I loved that old Singer treadle... I'd give my right ovary for one now.
