I have a table from Hancock's that works well for me. Also had trouble before with a surface that was not high enough and hurt my back. I'm 5'4". The table folds down to a narrow width and fits against a wall in my living room when not in use. It is not unstable at all and has casters to move which lock when needed. I bought it on sale for about 80$, I think.
