When my very expensive ($125) iron stopped working more than it did work after only a few months, I gave it to my dd then went to a drugstore and bought a Black & Decker for $9. It has no auto shutoff and works beautifully still after a year and a half.
Black & Decker makes good products I think. Or maybe it's just that cheapo irons work as well as expensive ones. ;-)
