My SIL and I made some burp cloths for a couple baby showers. We didn't put anything in the middle, cotton on one side, flannel on the "spit up" side. We asked the gals after wards how they worked and they said the flannel wasn't absorbing well. We switched to terry cloth on the "spit up" side and they said that did the trick!
