My first quilts were applique. Well not for me...I worked from home making baby quilts and wall hangings for "Baby World". It was kinda like doing the downy quilts. The company furnished all supplies needed except and iron and sewing machine. I earned $2.50 for every completed item. I thought I was making good money...doing what I liked...sewing...taking care of my babies...and getting discounts at "Baby World". My babies are now in their mid thirties. That was back when...cotton mills...were everyone's first job. Memories :D
