Rayon is the classic embroidery thread. The downside to rayon is that most Rayon is not colorfast, so you must be careful when washing any projects with rayon thread due to the potential color bleed. Trilobal polyester is colorfast and has the sheen of rayon. Here's a page on Fibers which we highlight Rayon & Polyester.
