yes, fairly light interfacing, just enough to keep the fabric turned under while you sew it to the (one large) piece of fabric to create the block. Then if you want to make the block lighter, you can CAREFULLY trim away the center (from the back) and leave just a 1/4" seam. Hope this makes sense.
