I also put my spools of thread in snack size plastic bags along with their matching bobbins. I use ponytail cloth elastic holders to fasten around each bobbin to secure the thread. Neat little packages. Now, I don't have a ton of threads, so my supply can stay relatively neat and colors easy to find.The thread packages are stored in a sewing/thread cabinet that I inherited.
This works for me, so far!
I also store my thread in snack size plastic bags with matching bobbins.
