This is the ONLY way that I can finish a quilt and know that it will look OK when done----binding and I don't get along! I cut my backing about 3" bigger ON EACH SIDE (add 6" to the length and 6" to the width measurements of your top) then I fold the backing edge to touch the quilt THEN fold over the raw edge. That way the binding part is doubled for durability.
