My favorite ruler is a 3-1/2X 9-1/2 inch one I acquired somewhere. It's great for small cuts. For larger cuts I swear by my 6-1/2 X 24 inch ruler. I love my Shape-Cut. Yes, you need to fold the fabric, but only in quarters across the width of fabric, not hard. The most important accessory to get for your rulers, however, are the silicon "grippers", those little round nubs that go on the underneath of your rulers to keep them from slipping.
