A gal at work uses one of the large exercise balls instead of a chair. She says it helps her back, her posture and her core balance.

I work with typical & special needs kids. Yes these cushions are used for ADD and kids with sensory needs. It help ADD kids move 'in' their chairs rather than 'out' of their chairs and helps others organize their sensory needs. OT's love them. I am not sure about helping with the back.
