Yes, Superior cotton thread is made with extra long staple Egyptian cotton so it is much stronger then Coats and Clarks. The staple is the pieces of cotton that are put together to make the thread. Stands to reason that 3" pieces of cotton would be stronger than 1" long pieces. The longer the pieces of cotton really make a lovely, strong thread that is great for piecing as well as quilting. I don't use C&C any more, not even for clothing repairs...it feels fuzzy to me. Check out the different thread with a magnifying glass...short staple is fuzzy and extra long staple looks really smooth.

:wink: ...so how long does it take to become a PhD in Threadology? I have some C&C trying to use up, now I'm not so sure that's such a good idea...
