How below:
Cut squares for the center, your choice of size 2 and one same size for batting. Ziz-zag together w/batting between squares.
Cut strips of fabric and batting, all the same width.
For each seam:
strip of batting, strip of fabric, right side up,
center square, strip of fabric, right side down, sew seam. Sewing thru all layers.
Press away from center, trim strips to correct size, pin together edges.
Do opposite side exactly the same.
Stack each seam in like order.
This is the way Eleanor Burns taught me in her first book.
"Turn me Over, I'm Reversible"
Continue in this manner until you reach the size desired.
Fun to do, use all those strips.
