I've read many disappointing comments about the expensive ones, so I just keep buying the less expensive ones. I bought a Shark. Other than shutting off by itself, it's not bad. I like it best of the ones I've had lately. They tend to "fall" at my house, so I'm better off not spending too much anyway.
Same here. Had 2 Rowenta's and both leaked within the first year - tried cheap ones that worked better but don't get hot enough.

Finally decided to try a Shark ($40 at Target). Nice and heavy, does shut off but heats up fast. Have had it for about 6 months now and love it! Has several steam settings with a high steam and large water reserve. When my other one (by my sewing machine dies) I'm going to buy another one. Gee....2 decent irons for less than the price of those expensive ones.
