Congrats on taking the plunge, sometimes it's not easy meeting new people in new surroundings, but just remember they are all quilters and quilters are usually a friendly bunch. Sometimes guilds will have a greeter that will introduce you around and help you to be more comfortable. I'm sure you will do fine - after all - they were new once themselves.
