I was killing time at our local Habitat ReStore and found two nice machines in the back. One is a Cavalier, which looks to be a 50's/60'sish Japanese Singer clone. Nice, but ordinary. (Except for the spool pin, which pops up when you push down on the collar around it. :D ) This one will go to my osmg, who will refurb and sell it. It kind of reminds me of the Morse IV-same era 'dashboard', I think. I found the teeny Army man in the pocket, guarding the bobbins. :)

The other one, I'm keeping! It's a Nelco, and will be my new backup machine. This one is heavy, but has a plastic access in the back, and a nylon (I think) cam stack inside. The rest of the innards are metal. My favorite part is it is a free arm-the bed slides off. As much as I like my table-mounted Pfaff 130, some things are just easier with a free arm. (Cuffs spring to mind!) If you leave the bed on the end folds down-I think actually, it folds back up so it will fit in the case. The case is interesting too-it doesn't actually latch; the handle just sticks up through it. I haven't found the model on the 'net yet, so figuring out all the fun stuff might be interesting. If you know anything about it, share, please! I'd love to know more.

It's got the cutest little accessories storage! It's full of rotten sponge dust...and feet!

the presser foot pressure knob is actually a lever

This, I dunno about. I've got the back off, and still can't see anything to be turned. Any guesses?

The make, model and serial number on the bottom. It's not helping me find any info though.
