A thick piece of felt also works. Something I did for my sewing table that was flexing as my machine was sewing was to make a "fifth" leg out of about 4" PVC pipe. I cut it to the height if the underside of my table, put a scrap of batting between the table and the pipe, placed the pipe near the needle end of the machine and no more vibration.
