It can be used in a baby or child's blanket because it has such a different texture and kids love that. A pattern using some corduroy, some flannel and some cotton gives 3 different and distinct textures. Little kids are all about exploring the world they're in!
This is especially true for kids who are bedridden for a length of time. The texture variance makes their environment richer. I am collecting flannels, corduroy and other textured materials to use for some of my charity quilts. Think of how important a quilt like that would be for a visually impaired child.
