I had really good luck taking my slides to WalMart's photo section. They scanned all the slides onto CD's and I could pick and choose to set up my own slideshow. It wasn't that expensive either, about 23 cents a slide.
As far as the quality, I had a 24 x 30 print made of one of the slides and the picture was really, really sharp.
