It wouldn't have been a 1969 Suburban, by any chance, would it?! There's not enough room or time to go on about "dis-believing" car mechanics but quick story. My family had a Suburban that did the same thing (dying), and needed to be towed multiple times. On the N'th time it needed to be towed (I was driving it), I was so frustrated, I suggested they deep six it into Boston Harbor!

The final straw was when my mother brought it in to the dealership. The service manager made the mistake of telling her she didn't know what she was talking about and that her driving was the problem. My grandmother and I were sitting in the car, listening to all of this. When we heard "stupid", and saw my mother light up like a Christmas tree, we just slunked down in our seats and waited for the fire works. Thankfully, the guy knew he'd stepped over the line, blood was not shed, and the car was eventually fixed. Bottom line, never mess with a Yankee, woman or man!
