Baby Lock Jane is way under $1000. It is a strait stitch machine that can be used on a long arm table. It is the same machine as the Brother 1500.
I have one hooked up to a stitch regulator on a long arm table. It is a very basic machine with a complicated threading and an under the machine bobbin which I do not like.
My favorite machine is a Viking Sapphire that is computerized and new costs $1100.
