My Mom cut them into squares, sewed them together randomly, backed them with double knit ( no batting) and tied the quilt. This was in the 70's, they are very warm, in the washer and dryer and seem to never wear out. The kids (in their forties now) used them for football games and now carry them in the car because of the easy care and warmth.
