I was just looking at a book last night entitled "120 Patterns for Traditional Quilts" by Maggie Malone and remembered seeing something very similar, except the sides of the "cones" are not rounded, but then, maybe that's an optical illusion in the photo you posted. The one I have is called Rocky Road to Kansas, but it says it is known by many names. To quote the book, "Job's Tears, Job's Troubles, World Without End, Kaleidoscope, Crossed Canoes and Arkansas Traveler are only a few." I personally don't think they all fit what you're looking for but that's just my opinion.
I think the Crossed Canoes pattern is probably what you're looking for.
