Really never have much of a problem as I square up as I go along...1/8 of an inch difference per block can really make a big difference when it is done. I learned the hard way. The 4th quilt I ever made was off and it made me so angry with myself so started making sure each block was the correct size. You can't "fudge" all those blocks and have it come out well. There are other mistakes that the "quilt police" would probably find. Hate it when I know something is wrong even though no one else does. I just say, "I wanted it that way". I would find some use for a quilt top that wasn't square...
